After the announcement of the engagement of Senator Mar Roxas and ABS-CBN chief correspondent Korina Sanchez on the noontime show "Wowowee" last Saturday, three big celebrities in showbiz gave their best wishes to the couple.

"I just pray and I hope that the security of your marriage would be founded and grounded and built on a foundation that does not change, regardless of what may happen in society, in politics, in government and in life," Mr. "Pure Energy" Gary Valenciano said.

"Concert King" Martin Nievera wished Sanchez and Roxas all the best in life.

"I wish you all the best. You guys make a great pair, two good-looking people, both of them with aspirations to make this country a better place to be, what more with Mar doing it and Korina reporting  it, and talking about the inside story of all the things that Mar will do to make this country a much more beautiful place to live, and then to stay married, to have children, and to have a family be our role model," Nievera said.

Zsa Zsa Padilla expressed her happiness for the picture-perfect couple.

"Congratulations on your engagement. We are so happy for you both," Padilla said.

Mar cries

Last Saturday, Roxas cried on "Wowowee" after his fiancee Sanchez, expressed her love for him.

Roxas told "Wowowee" host Willie Revillame it was Sanchez who made him stop wanting to be a bachelor.

"Siya yung nagpatigil sa pagkaka-binata ko," Roxas said.

Sanchez, who was wearing her engagement ring, said she never thought she would meet the man in her life.

"Kala ko kasi, Willie, hindi na ito darating sa buhay ko e....Gusto ko lang sabihin kay Mar na, kahapon, ngayon, at bukas, iyong iyo ako," she said.

Roxas also described to Willie how he proposed to Sanchez last February.

"Siyempre magkatabi kami, kami lang, nag-hoholding hands, at sinabi ko naman sa kaniya na, 'Honey, alam mo naman siguro na tayo na nga talaga ito, kaya I want to formally ask your hand in marriage," Roxas said, after which he shed tears.

Sanchez then wiped away the tears on Roxas' face with her finger.

After Willie expressed surprise at Roxas' emotional response, Roxas said: "Na touch [kasi] ako sa sinabi niya e."

No date yet

Last Friday, Sanchez told TV Patrol there is no date yet for the wedding.

A source close to the couple said it was possible that the pair would be wed in June, which Sanchez denied. "Ayokong maging June bride dahil tag-ulan," she said, laughing.

Prior to the official announcement on Wowowee, Roxas had been bringing Sanchez along with him to numerous family engagements, including last April 15 when the Roxas clan gathered to honor the 61st death anniversary of President Manuel Roxas, Roxas' grandfather.

Recently, Sanchez was at a family reunion with the Aranetas in Bacolod, comprising of Roxas's relatives on his mother's side.

"Kilala naman ni Koring yung pamilya ko. Close naman sila at nung nagkaroon kami ng reunion din sa Negros ay sinama ko siya para mas makilala niya pa ang ibang miyembro ng pamilya ko," the senator said.
